here is a 36 minute documentary of one of my all-time favorite rap groups ever! (yeah, I said rap groups, and not rap duos, because DJ Scratch was a big part of it).
Brentwood, Long Island, You Gots To Chill, So Whatcha Sayin, the recording process, the dope samples they used before everyone else, The Hit Squad, the breakup (which is still one of the most devestating moments of my hiphop life), the reunion… strictly underground funk, keep the Crossover!

Sneakers – documentary (2004)
23 December 2012Sneakers is 50-minute documentary about the history and social significance of sneakers. The film asks the question how sneakers have evolved from being the “poor man’s shoes” to an icon of modern lifestyle and subculture identity.
Directed by Submarine Channel co-founder Femke Wolting, Sneakers emphasizes the fashion and design aspects of the popular sports shoe, showing the design process and the ways that brands profile themselves on the competitive sneakers market. The film also focuses on the extraordinary shoe designers, as well as on the people who buy them and wear them.
The film mixes original footage with commercials, photos, scientific films and other film and video material, showing how brands make use of underground culture to give street cred to a pair of sneakers. Fascinating stuff.

ESPN Documentary – Broke
5 October 2012From the Director of Cocaine Cowboys comes a fascinating documentary about the afterlife of a majority of professional athletes we used to cheer for. “Broke” digs into the psychology of men whose competitive nature carried them to victory on the field yet seemed to ruin them off the field.
According to a 2009 Sports Illustrated article, 60 percent of former NBA players are broke within five years of retirement. By
the time they have been retired for two years, 78% of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress. Sucked into bad investments, stalked by freeloaders, saddled with medical problems, and naturally prone to showing off, many pro athletes get shocked by harsh economic realities after years of living the high life. Drawing surprisingly vulnerable confessions from retired stars
